Community Letter May 22, 2025
May 22, 2025 Dear Spalding Community Members: We’d like to take this opportunity to let you know about some recent changes here at the District. General Manager Vincent Rogers has resigned and we are currently looking to fill his position. We wish him well in his future endeavors and have had some positive response in our search to replace him. Please feel free to spread the word. The specifics about the job are listed on the website. Additionally we’re glad to let you know about some new initiatives we’re exploring including streamlining the billing and banking processes for more efficiency, transparency and cost savings for the district. These would make paying your bill and keeping track of your account much easier than is currently available. Regarding the Wastewater System; The District recently received a Notice of Violation (NOV) from the water board that was known about and expected. This information was provided to the public at the May 2024 meeting. We all know that we have an aging wastewater system that has been the victim of deferred maintenance for years and these violations, while not acceptable, can be expected considering the current state of the system. That said, the violation will allow us to show that we are in need of assistance in the form of grant monies available to “Disadvantaged Communities" to bring the system into full compliance. We are in contact with the water board staff regarding our current situation and our efforts to resolve the issues. The Notice of Violation also allows us to pinpoint particular problems within the system that require immediate attention and make plans to address those. All incidents of malfunctioning equipment are routinely reported to the water board and that includes information about any spill or near spill that may occur. We are also seeking to hire an employee with a Wastewater One Certificate to meet our mandated requirements there. The specifics of that position are also listed on the website. Going forward, we will continue to let you know what to expect from your Spalding Community Services District and appreciate your patience and cooperation while we face these challenges.
