Dear Spalding Residents and Property Owners,
I wanted to thank those who have done their part to reduce fire fuels on your property in Spalding. I encourage others, who have not or cannot clear and remove flammable materials, to do so as soon as possible.
This region is in the fourth year of drought and has experienced very warm, dry and windy weather conditions following a very wet, late spring. This has led to an abundance of grass added to an already dry, heavy fuel load in the forest. The forecast over the next couple of weeks calls for temperatures to top 100 degrees with the chance of thunderstorms and abundance of lightning. Couple that with the upcoming Fourth of July weekend, bring more people to our community, and the chance of man-caused fires is high.
As a community, we need to do our part for the safety of our first responders, firefighters and to protect our property investments. Our Community Services District has an ordinance which allows us to hire people to clean properties for a fee. If you need help, please contact the District at (530) 825-3258, leave a message if no answer.
PLEASE HELP KEEP OUR FIREFIGHTERS AND OUR PROPERTY SAFE!
CLEAR AND DISPOSE OF FIRE FUELS ON YOUR PROPERTY
